Councillors in Calderdale are looking at ways to make the borough a healthier place, by exploring the relationship between healthy people and healthy environments.
Calderdale Council’s Economy and Environment Scrutiny Panel has appointed a Scrutiny Review Group made up of councillors across political parties, who will discuss a number of objectives at forthcoming meetings. These objectives include promoting activity and sustainable travel across the borough, reducing the effect on health of living in a cold home and developing policies to reduce environmental pollution.
The members of the group will discuss ideas to achieve these objectives, ultimately feeding back their findings and recommendations to the Economy and Environment Scrutiny Panel.
Calderdale Council’s Chair of the Economy and Environment Scrutiny Panel and the Scrutiny Review Group, Cllr James Baker said:
“The newly formed Scrutiny Review Group will be focussing on exploring the relationships between the local environment and public health to see how we can make Calderdale a healthier place to live.
“To help us with this piece of work, we would very much welcome views, ideas and other input from local people and businesses. If you are able to, please take the opportunity to share your views with the Review Group.”
If you’d like to contribute your views to the Group either email Scrutiny Support Officer Paul.Preston@calderdale.gov.uk or post to Paul Preston, Scrutiny Support Office, Room 10, Halifax Town Hall, Crossley Street, Halifax, HX1 1UJ.
