Get Christmas wrapped up at Shibden Hall

Shibden Hall

The Shibden Estate is getting in the festive spirit early, by hosting the annual Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November.

Held in the magnificent setting of the Grade II* listed Shibden Hall, the Christmas Craft Fair will provide visitors with the perfect opportunity to make a start on the Christmas shopping.

There will be a rich array of stalls selling a variety of products, from locally produced Christmas puddings, delicious pickles and preserves to beautiful handcrafted jewellery and accessories, from traditional peg dolls and wooden gifts to textile art.

The Hall will be filled with locally based producers offering a wide range of goods, which make it the ideal place to find those unique Christmas gifts or special treats.

To add to the festive atmosphere there will be brass bands playing in the courtyard over the weekend, face painting for children and locally based stone carvers will be demonstrating their skills in the Folk Museum.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Communities, Cllr Susan Press, said:

“The Shibden Hall Christmas Fair is the perfect way to start your festive season and get you in the Christmas spirit early.

“There’s plenty to see and do for all ages, and you may just find the perfect Christmas gift at one of the great local stalls.

“The reduced admission price also means it’s a great opportunity to have a look around the Hall and grounds to discover the fascinating history of the Shibden Estate.”

Over the weekend, there will also be the reduced admission price of £2.50, with concessions £2 (Shibden Annual Pass holders go free). So, as well as the Fair, there’s also the opportunity to look around one of England’s oldest buildings and observe the early English oak furniture, oak panelled rooms and splendid stone mullioned stained glass windows.

The Shibden Hall Christmas Craft Fair is on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November from 10am – 4pm.
