Funding is now available for community and voluntary groups in Calderdale providing advice and practical help for residents facing pressures with the cost of living.

Reducing inequalities is one of Calderdale Council’s priorities, with a key focus of supporting residents who may be struggling with the cost of living. The Council works closely alongside partners and the wider community with an aim of helping residents to live an active, healthy and fulfilled life, free from money worries and poverty.

In partnership with the Community Foundation for Calderdale, the Council has launched the latest round of the Calderdale Resilience Fund. Local groups can apply for funding of up to £7000 to support initiatives to prevent residents falling into poverty or support those needing urgent help after reaching a crisis point.

Eligible groups can find out more at cffc.co.uk/calderdale-resilience-fund(external link). Applications can be submitted online, with a deadline of Monday 30 June 2025.

Funding is provided from the Government’s Household Support Fund, with the application process managed by the Community Foundation for Calderdale, on behalf of Calderdale Council.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Services and Communities, Cllr Danielle Durrans, said:

“Our important work to reduce inequalities across Calderdale includes a real focus on tackling poverty and supporting people facing challenges with cost of living pressures. Sadly, we continue to see more people reaching crisis point and demand for debt and welfare advice services remains high.

“We know that there are many local groups doing amazing work to provide advice and guidance to people who are struggling. We want to be able to support their incredible efforts, which make such a difference in our communities.

“Through the Household Support Fund we’re providing local groups with grant funding of up to £7000. This community driven support helps people access trusted guidance to prevent them falling into hardship, as well as providing emergency support when it’s needed.”

Steve Duncan, CEO of Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC), added:

“We’re proud to be working in partnership with Calderdale Council to deliver the Resilience Fund and ensure that this vital support reaches those who need it most.

“This funding will enable grassroots organisations to respond quickly to crisis situations and help prevent families and individuals from falling into deeper difficulty. Together, we’re strengthening our community.”
