Halifax Food & Drink Festival Announced

Delivered by the team at Marketing Halifax and supported by Calderdale Council, Borough Market and The Woolshops, the eighth annual Halifax Food & Drink Festival has been announced to take place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June 2015.

Saturday 20 June offers a live demonstration kitchen with chefs and local producers taking to the stage, around 100 exhibiting stall holders selling homemade food and drink, plus a homegrown Farmer’s Market will all run in the town centre between 10am and 5pm. Sunday 21 June showcases new talent on the demonstration kitchen stage, around 100 exhibiting stall holders, and plenty of free sampling and giveaways across the day between 10am and 4pm.

There will be local, regional, national and international cuisine, artisan breads and delicate cakes. Cider and beer brewed in the region served alongside cocktails and pitches of Pimms.  European, Asian, Indian, African and Caribbean foods will nestle between coffee vans and fruit and veg stalls. Not forgetting sweet treats, healthy nibbles and cheese in abundance.  There is something for all taste buds and all pockets.

This year’s festival will see an increase in kitchenware products and gift purchases on offer as well as more choice of sweet ‘eat now’ desserts.

Marketing Halifax Chair, The Reverend Canon Hilary Barber says:

“Halifax is proving to be one of the North’s leading food and drink festivals, gaining more and more recognition over the years and increasing visitor numbers in to the town centre annually, with over 27,000 visitors in 2014 making it the biggest town centre festival to take place in Halifax.

“The Halifax Food & Drink Festival is in a sublime location, as it surrounds the Grade II Listed Borough Market offering festivalgoers the opportunity to not only eat at the festival but also to shop in the market.”

The Halifax Food & Drink Festival is free to attend. The festival is suitable for all ages, with a number of stalls contributing to the increasing need to support food intolerances there will be vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and nut free products available to buy at the festival.
