Halifax Pool – temporary closure

Calderdale Council

Halifax swimming pool will close for one day on Sunday 11 October whilst essential work is carried out on the filters.

The filters need a thorough clean as the water in the pool is not as clear as it should be, but is safe to swim in. This work can only take place when there is nobody in the pool.

The rest of the building, including the gym, squash courts, sauna and studio will remain open as usual whilst the work takes place.

Alternative swimming is available at Brighouse Pool, Sowerby Bridge Pool and Todmorden Sports Centre. Find out more about these facilities on the Sports centres and swimming pools page.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Steve Sweeney, said:

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the pool. It’s essential that we carry out this work so we can continue to meet the high standards that our customers expect and enjoy. We have planned the work for a Sunday when there are fewer classes, to minimise disruption.”

The pool is expected to be open as usual from Monday 12 October.
