Plan your future at Get Organised 2016

The Shay

Students in Year 11 and their families are invited to Calderdale Council’s Get Organised event, to find out more about the options they have after finishing GCSEs in 2017.

On Thursday 29 September young people and their families are encouraged to drop in to the Shay Stadium in Halifax between 3pm and 7.30pm for the chance to speak with colleges, sixth forms, universities, work based training providers and employers from across the region.

There’ll be lots of information and advice available, including talks from C&K Careers, university, college and apprenticeship providers which will be repeated throughout the evening. You will also receive your own C&K Careers ‘Get Organised’ guide, packed full of up to date information on local post 16 options.

Calderdale Council and C&K Careers will also be available to provide support and information on money, benefits, transport, Special Educational Needs and disability support.

Last year’s event saw 750 young people attending with their families to start planning for their future. Feedback from the event included “Knowledgeable staff who gave good advice – thank you” and “I am more confident about what I want to do now”.

There is no need to book a place but please be aware it can be busy between 5pm and 6.30pm.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services, Cllr Megan Swift, said:

“This is a really great event to help you find out more about Post 16 options. Whether you decide to continue with education or want to find out more about apprenticeships and other employment options – everything is in one place, so you can more easily make an informed decision about the future.”
