Calderdale businesses have the chance to learn how to save energy and cut costs at an event run by the Council, to support its priority to tackle the climate emergency.
Business Growth Calderdale’s ‘Energy saving and sustainability in business’ event is on Thursday 30 March. Held at Bertie’s in Elland, it is designed to help small and medium-sized local firms to boost their energy efficiency and reduce their running costs.
Cllr Scott Patient, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Resilience, said:
“Tackling the climate crisis is a joint effort and affects everyone, and we can all play our part. This is the essence of the Calderdale Climate Action Plan, which sets out what we’ll do together in the next three years to reduce greenhouse gases and the impact of climate change in Calderdale.
“Local businesses are already doing some brilliant things to cut their energy use, and our event will highlight examples and provide expert advice to help more businesses reduce carbon emissions.”
Cllr Jane Scullion, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Strategy, added:
“The rising cost of living is affecting everyone, and businesses are no exception. We’re doing everything we can to support the entire community. We welcome small and medium businesses of all kinds to our event on 30 March, to see how they can cut costs whilst also taking climate action and protecting Calderdale’s distinctive environment. This has the double effect of supporting our priority for thriving towns and places, and tackling the climate emergency.”
The session will explore the various methods for saving energy in business, from reducing consumption to introducing renewable energy sources.
The Business Growth Calderdale team will be joined by Dean Frost, Managing Director of Clade Engineering, who will talk about how natural refrigerant heat pumps can significantly reduce a company’s carbon footprint.
The team from Edge Efficiency will be there to offer independent, expert advice on how businesses can improve energy performance and make what they have work more efficiently – reducing operational costs and increasing the value of assets.
Nick Edwards, Resource Efficiency Manager for West Yorkshire Combined Authority, will be sharing information on the new Business Sustainability Programme, which aims to help companies become more environmentally sustainable and move towards net zero carbon.
There will also be opportunities for businesses to discuss their current challenges and ask the experts questions.
