Council celebrates Silver seal of approval

Calderdale Council

Calderdale Council is celebrating after being awarded the Silver Investors in People award, just 18 months after achieving the Bronze award.

Investors in People (IiP) is recognised across the world as a mark of excellence for organisations who achieve high performance through their staff.

Gaining the Silver award is a massive achievement for the Council. The prestigious accreditation is recognised across the world as a mark of excellence. Over 15,000 organisations around the world hold an IiP award, but based on 2014 figures, only 12% hold a Silver or Gold accreditation.

The IiP assessors interviewed a random sample group of over 80 Council employees, and over the 18 months since achieving the Bronze award over 300 staff have taken part in IiP assessments.

The assessors found that staff were proud to work for the Council, and felt a sense of fulfilment at providing a good service for Calderdale residents. The assessors report commended staff for their commitment to contributing to the Council’s success.

The Leader of Calderdale Council, Cllr Tim Swift said:

“I’m delighted that we have been awarded the Silver Investors in People award, it’s particularly impressive that this was achieved so quickly after achieving the Bronze accreditation.

“The award is a remarkable achievement for Calderdale Council and is testament to the hard work we put in to encourage staff development, which in turn helps us to achieve the very best service for our customers and residents.

“The feedback from the assessors report will be used to continuously improve our organisation, and we aim to keep improving with the ultimate goal of achieving the Gold IiP award!”
