Temporary traffic lights are currently in place on Elland Road, Brighouse.
On Monday 8 February, Calderdale Council became aware of a crack running along the centre of the road near to Brighouse Wood Lane.
Structural engineers have been monitoring the condition of the road overnight and again throughout today (Tuesday 9 February). Monitoring will continue tonight as there appears to have been some further movement.
Teams are looking into the extent of the road slippage and the repairs required.
Cllr Jane Scullion, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Strategy, said:
“If people need to make an essential journey which involves going on Elland Road in Brighouse, we’re asking them to be aware of possible delays and to plan accordingly.
“We apologise for any inconvenience. The temporary traffic lights are needed as teams are carrying out important investigation and monitoring work, and until we know the extent of the damage, they will protect road users. We will provide further updates once we know the full amount of damage and what repairs are required.”
