Enjoy a CultureDale Christmas at Calderdale Museums

Shibden in the snow

Christmas is coming to Calderdale Museums, with Shibden Hall and Bankfield Museum hosting craft fair events welcoming a range of traders from across the region for days of shopping and festive fun.

Shibden’s Winter Craft Fair is taking place on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November, from 10am until 4pm, each day. Rooms around the beautiful building will be filled with stalls selling a range of local produce, including artisan crafts, in time for Christmas shopping. There will also be a number of stalls in the courtyard offering festive treats and refreshments.

Over the weekend, there will also be the reduced admission price of £4 for adults and £3 for concessions and children 5-16, so visitors can enjoy the fair and the historic hall for a bargain price.

It’s recommended that visitors travelling to Shibden Hall use sustainable transport methods, with a regular bus service passing the entrance to the park. If travelling by car, visitors should use the pay and display car parks in Shibden Park, accessible from the main park entrance just off the A58.

Bankfield Museum’s Christmas Craft Fair will be returning on Saturday 7 December 2024 from 10am until 4pm. Visitors can enjoy a selection of gifts from local artisans and craft makers, with stalls throughout the museum. Alongside the stalls, there are also some great gift ideas in the Bankfield Museum gift shop.

The Bankfield Craft Fair is free to enter, and visitors can also enjoy the great exhibitions currently on display at the Museum. This includes a special CultureDale exhibition, celebrating 50 years of Calderdale for the borough’s Year of Culture, which explores the borough’s past, present and future.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Services and Communities, Cllr Danielle Durrans, said:

“The Christmas season is just around the corner and the annual festive fairs taking place at Shibden Hall and Bankfield Museum offer the opportunity to get a head start on the shopping and enjoy festive treats in our beautifully decorated venues.

“As we celebrate the run up to Christmas in our Year of Culture, there are also lots of other CultureDale activities taking place at our venues and in locations across the borough. This is a very special year, and we want everyone to be able to get involved and enjoy a CultureDale Christmas.”
