Halifax swimming pool will be closed from Tuesday 29 March until Friday 8 April 2016 whilst essential work is carried out on the pool.
This will involve repairs to the pipes, workto the pool water treatment systemand the replacement of pool equipment. This important work can only take place when there is nobody in the pool.
The rest of the building, including the gym, squash courts, sauna and studio will remain open as usual whilst the work takes place.
Alternative swimming is available at Brighouse Pool, Sowerby Bridge Pool and Todmorden Sports Centre. Find out more about these facilities at www.calderdale.gov.uk on the Sports centres and swimming pools page.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Steve Sweeney, said:
“We know that Halifax Pool is a popular centre, where many people enjoy swimming each week.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause, but this important work will keep the pool operational until a replacement can be built.
“Our three other fantastic pools will be open as usual while the closure is in place, where you can also use your membership to access the facilities.
“We’re committed to the future of swimming in Halifax, and design work has already begun on a new swimming pool for the town, which is due to be completed in 2018.”
