Investment and growth opportunities in Calderdale are being highlighted on the national stage, as Calderdale Council attends the UK’s Real Estate, Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF).
The UKREiiF event (20-22 May 2025) being held in Leeds, is a three-day networking event, exhibition, and conference. It brings together over 16,000 professionals from national and local government, alongside investors, funders, developers, housebuilders and more, helping to attract inward investment and generate economic growth.
Calderdale Council is attending as part of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority delegation, and senior leaders will be featuring in panel discussions on the West Yorkshire Pavilion stage.
The event programme will explore the exciting investment opportunities in West Yorkshire, one of the UK’s fastest-growing regions. Three ‘corridors of opportunity’ will be showcased to thousands of high-profile businesses and investors.
The ‘Western corridor’ focuses on growth opportunities in Leeds, Bradford and Calderdale, whilst the ‘Southern corridor’ focuses on Leeds to Dewsbury and Huddersfield, and also includes parts of Brighouse. UKREiiF is a chance to highlight key investment opportunities in the borough, and how these link with the wider region. This includes:
- Sustainable growth in south east Calderdale
- Clifton Business Park – Plans are progressing to transform a large site close to Brighouse into a regionally significant business park. The Clifton Business Park would create 1,300 jobs and bring major benefits for Calderdale and West Yorkshire.
- New garden communities at Woodhouse in Rastrick and Thornhills in Brighouse – These are a major part of the Local Plan for Calderdale and together have potential capacity to provide around 3000 new homes, two primary schools and a range of community facilities.
- The transformation of Halifax town centre
- The A629 phase 2 Halifax town centre project – Work is ongoing to improve spaces and layouts, connecting communities, and unlocking potential development space.
- Housing opportunities within the town centre – the Council is supporting opportunities for developers to access brownfield sites and build attractive town centre living. This includes the recently completed Bolt Works development at Cow Green and progression of the mixed-use ‘Minster View’ development, centrally located at Cripplegate, Halifax.
- Other developments – Significant investment in recent years is also being showcased, demonstrating the wider potential of the area, such as the award-winning Halifax Bus Station redevelopment, accessibility improvements in the town centre and the multimillion-pound transformation of the iconic Piece Hall.
By highlighting growth opportunities at UKREiiF the Council aims to support economic growth and bring opportunities for local people and businesses.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Cllr Sarah Courtney, said:
“Calderdale’s diverse mix of well-connected towns and rural communities, with a thriving cultural scene, make it an exciting place to do business. We’re a kind and welcoming place, but we’re also ambitious about future sustainable development.
“As part of our priority for thriving towns and places, we’re looking forward to showcasing the many investment opportunities in Calderdale on the national stage at the UKREiiF conference in Leeds.
“Calderdale is featuring in the programme at the West Yorkshire Pavilion, as part of joint working across West Yorkshire to boost economic growth. We’ll be highlighting the investment-ready sites in the borough, as well as significant recent developments and how these are attracting further investment.”
Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said:
“There has never been a better time to invest in Calderdale and West Yorkshire, with plans for thousands of high quality homes alongside a hotbed of business growth and job creation.
“By ensuring that people can live in a safe and secure community, get the skills they need to succeed, and travel to work quickly and reliably, devolution will empower us to grow our economy and put more money in people’s pockets.
“It’s fantastic that UKREiiF is returning to our region for a fourth consecutive year, as we press ahead with our ambitious multibillion-pound growth plan to champion investment and create good jobs.”
