Volunteer as a board member to shape the future of Mixenden and parts of Illingworth

Revd. Robb Sutherland

Applications are still open for voluntary roles on the new Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.

Due to the national programme timeline, the deadline is now sooner, to make sure the Board is in place in time to meet key Pride in Place milestones.

People now need to submit their expressions of interest by Sunday 24 May 2026.

The Board will help to guide Pride in Place investment in Mixenden and parts of Illingworth. Board members will play a central role in setting priorities, overseeing funding decisions and ensuring that the voices of local residents, community organisations and businesses are at the heart of change.

Key dates:

  • Expressions of interest close: Sunday 24 May 2026
  • Appointments confirmed: late May 2026
  • First Neighbourhood Board meeting: June 2026

Board member roles are voluntary, and no previous board or governance experience is required. Full induction, training and ongoing support will be provided. Applications are welcome from people of all ages and backgrounds who live, work in, or feel closely connected to Mixenden and Illingworth, and who are passionate about the future of the area.

The Board will work alongside an Independent Chair to lead the Pride in Place investment and ensure decisions reflect community priorities – from improving public spaces and community facilities, to celebrating heritage, creativity and local identity.

Robb Sutherland, Pride in Place Programme Chair, said:

“Pride in Place is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our community, and it’s essential that local voices lead the way.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing a wide and diverse range of people step forward to join the Neighbourhood Board and help ensure the investment is guided by local knowledge, lived experience and an ambition to make Mixenden and Illingworth even better.”
