Zohrah Zancudi has been appointed as Head of Customer Services at Calderdale Council.
Zohrah started in the post last week and is leading a wide range of projects to deliver first-class customer service to people in Calderdale. That includes the contact centre, Customer First, revenues and benefits, licensing, registrars, corporate communications, sports and leisure – which involves leading on welfare reform work and shaping a sporting legacy from the Tour De France Grand Départ.
She was previously Assistant Director for Employment, Skills and Culture at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, where she led Routes to Employment and Cultural and Natural Heritage services. Zohrah also led leisure services, customer services and corporate communications. In her last three years in the role, she was part of the regeneration management team that delivered £74 million of regeneration development in Redcar, including a new, state-of-the-art sports and leisure centre.
Whilst working in local government Zohrah has held a variety of roles and led a number of corporate business improvement initiatives. She has worked as an international election observer on a voluntary basis since 2000.
Zohrah says:
“I am absolutely delighted to have joined Calderdale Council. Calderdale has a strong reputation and I am looking forward to working with colleagues and councillors to deliver first-class services that place the customer at the heart of everything we do.”
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Marcus Thompson, says:
“It’s great to have Zohrah as part of the Council’s management team. We are undergoing significant change and it’s a really exciting time to deliver customer service in a completely new way. I know that Zohrah’s mix of experience, talent and enthusiasm will help move our customer services forward, ensuring that residents can expect to receive ever-improving services.”
Zohrah has five children, the two youngest of which are both at university in Leeds, and she is enjoying living in Calderdale since moving for her new role.
