Brighouse and Todmorden to benefit from Towns Fund

Cllr Swift

Brighouse and Todmorden are two of the 100 UK towns which will receive support from a multi-billion pound programme to develop innovative regeneration plans, announced today by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Find out more on GOV.UK(external link).

In response to the announcement, Cllr Tim Swift, Calderdale Council’s Leader, said:

“We welcome this investment in Brighouse and Todmorden. We have a clear ambition for our towns – we want them to survive, thrive and provide great places for people to live, work, visit and do business.

“The funding is recognition of the challenges that our towns face, such as the uncertain future for retail, and we have been making the case for further investment for some time.

“We believe this is further recognition of both the vision and the track record of the Council in delivering change. The opportunities that the grants bring are another step forward in the regeneration of Calderdale, and will build on a wide range of improvements across our towns. We look forward to getting official information about how we can take this work forward as quickly as possible.

“We are committed to working with our Town Boards and all sectors to help achieve our Vision2024 for Calderdale to be distinctive, kind, resilient, enterprising and talented.”
