Visitors to Calderdale are encouraged to ‘pick up a passport’, as a new initiative is inviting people to explore some of the borough’s prettiest parks, inspiring museums and fascinating heritage sites.

Visitors can pick up the new Calderdale passport at locations across the borough and start collecting stamps, to gain entry to a prize draw with the chance of winning some great prizes.

The stamps can be collected from cultural and natural attractions and business locations across Calderdale, including historical museums such as Bankfield Museum, local nature reserves like Cromwell Bottom, and special interest buildings such as Halifax Borough Market, Wainhouse Tower and Todmorden Town Hall.

Passports can be taken to the visitor centre or café at each attraction, where a member of staff will stamp the booklet.  Adventure lovers can also stamp their own booklet using the chained stamp at Wade’s Bridge at Jerusalem Farm and Wade Wood Nature Reserve.

Once the passport has five stamps or more, the prize draw can be entered by scanning the QR code on the booklet. Some of the fantastic prizes on offer include,

tickets to the latest shows, free admission to some of Calderdale’s best attractions, afternoon tea at a select restaurant and special Visit Calderdale souvenirs. The prize draw winners will be announced at the end of the year.

Calderdale Council’s Tourism and Visitor Economy Manager, Diana Greenwood, said:

“It’s an exciting time to Visit Calderdale, with over eight million visitors a year proving that there is much to see and do, with outstanding attractions, interesting heritage sites and beautiful landscapes, as well as the great events and local cultural activities that will be taking place as part of Calderdale’s 50th celebration – the Year of Culture, 2024.

“That is why we want to give our visitors more this spring. With the Calderdale passport, visitors can enjoy their favourite locations, whilst being in with the chance of winning some great prizes

“Calderdale is becoming increasingly well-known, thanks to being the backdrop to so many national and international TV shows and films.
