Residents and businesses at Hipperholme will have the opportunity to see the latest plans to improve Hipperholme crossroads.
Calderdale Council’s successful bid to the Department for Transport means that work can now take place to improve the crossroads which should result in reduced journey times to and from Halifax during morning and evening peak travel times.
The Council, together with the Department for Transport’s local pinch point fund is investing £3.4million to reduce journey times between one and seven minutes on the surrounding roads that lead up to Hipperholme Crossroads. It will also make it safer for pedestrians crossing the roads that make up the junction.
Before detailed designs are created, the Council would like to know the views of residents and businesses in the area. An open day is being held on Thursday 3 October 2013 which will give people the opportunity to see the proposed plans and give their feedback. This feedback will then contribute towards the final design which will be presented at an exhibition that will take place early 2014.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Environment, Cllr Barry Collins said:
“It’s great news that we’ve managed to secure funding from the Department for Transport to be able to improve the crossroads at Hipperholme. This will help reduce journey times to and from Halifax as well as make it safer for people to cross the roads. The open day is a good opportunity to look at the plans so far and answer any questions you may have”
The open day will take place on Thursday 3 October 2013, from 11.00am until 8.00pm at Christ Church Methodist URC, Wakefield Road, Hipperholme, HX3 8AA.
Further information about the proposed scheme can be found at Hipperholme crossroads
