Last week we heard the sad news of the death of Councillor Mrs Geraldine Carter.
To mark the exceptional civic contribution of our Deputy Mayor for the Borough of Calderdale, we will fly the Union Flag at half-mast at Halifax Town Hall from tomorrow, Tuesday 3 February 2026, until our next Full Council meeting, on Wednesday 11 February 2026.
The flag will be taken down on Thursday 12 February 2026.
The Union Flag will be raised to half-mast again on Thursday 19 February 2026 as a mark of respect for Councillor David Kirton on the day of his funeral.
The Union Flag will be raised at half-mast on Friday 6 March 2026 as a mark of respect for Councillor Mrs Geraldine Carter on the day of her funeral.
