The full line-up has been announced for ‘Debut at the Lake: The Budding Stage’, a live music showcase taking place on Friday 14 August 2026 as part of Calderdale’s new cultural celebration ‘Stage at the Lake’.
Part of a packed four-day programme of performances, to mark 100 years of public ownership of Shibden Park, The Budding Stage brings together some of the region’s most exciting emerging artists for a full day of live music. The event champions new music, supports artists by creating opportunities for local talent to step onto a bigger stage and offers an opportunity to perform alongside established UK acts, all within a beautiful, lakeside, heritage setting.
Co-curated by CalderGroove Youth Music Collective with Grassroots Music Network, alongside some of the region’s best grassroots music venues, new names from across West Yorkshire make up the final line-up. They include singer-songwriter, pianist, guitarist and session musician Adelaide Taylor(external link); pop rock group Billy Billy 5P(external link); acoustic rap artist Dan Loops(external link); indie rock band Dan’s Girlfriend(external link); 4-piece alternative band Sons of Latona(external link) and singer-songwriter Daphne Jay, who is the youngest performer of the day, aged just 13 years old.
They join folky pop musician Doogle(external link), 70s-tinged rock quartet Grow(external link), brother and sister duo The Incident(external link) and singer-songwriterHerbie May, (external link)some of the region’s top up-and-coming talent already announced as featuring on The Budding Stage.
These Yorkshire rising stars will perform alongside headliner and well-established rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer Lady Leshurr(external link), who launched her career through YouTube, with her hit song ‘Queen’s Speech’ reaching over 64 million streams. 7-piece band A Day On Venus(external link), who will bring a mix of neo-soul and UK club grooves,will also take to The Budding Stage following their recent EP release, Call Me, Sister.

Our work at CalderGroove, as a youth-led music collective, is dedicated to creating opportunities for young musicians. We are proud to bring together local artists and well-established performers, creating an opportunity to help build a stronger future for Calderdale’s music scene and creating spaces where young musicians can perform, connect and develop their careers.
“Hosting this in Shibden Park, which is such a special place for so many, as we mark its 100th anniversary, feels like the perfect moment to showcase the energy and ambition of the next generation of local musicians.”

‘Stage at the Lake’ is a major new family-friendly addition to Calderdale’s cultural calendar that takes place from 13-16 August and includes theatre, comedy, classical music, brass, and youth-led performances across the multi-day outdoor programme.
It is also part of ‘Seasons of Culture – Nature 2026’, a cultural initiative from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority that will see a series of events celebrate the region’s creativity, heritage, and communities through the lens of the natural world.
Fully accessible, ‘Stage at the Lake’ will feature a mix of ticketed and free events, with free entry for under-16s.
