Calderdale Open art exhibition at Bankfield Museum

Art lovers in Calderdale are invited to Bankfield Museum in Halifax, for the eighth annual Calderdale Open art exhibition.

The exhibition, which opens on Saturday 10 November, will feature a selection of drawings, paintings, prints, photographs and textiles.

Work has already been submitted by professional and amateur artists from across the north of England and entries can still be received at Bankfield before the closing date of Saturday 3 November.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhood Services, Cllr Susan Press, said:

“The annual Calderdale Open art exhibition is always popular and it’s so interesting to see the mix of styles and mediums used by talented artists from across the North.

“There’s still time to submit work to be in with a chance to win great prizes and have your work showcased at Bankfield Museum.”

The exhibition will be selected by artists Jake Attree, Tom Wood and Curator Elinor Camille-Wood.

Prizes for the entries include a £150 voucher for the Shibden Mill Inn, afternoon tea at Holdsworth House and a £100 People’s Prize awarded to the artist whose work receives the most votes from gallery visitors.

The free Calderdale Open art exhibition opens at 2pm on Saturday 10 November where prizes will be awarded by the Mayor of Calderdale, Cllr Marcus Thompson.

The exhibition will continue until Saturday 19 January 2019.

Bankfield Museum is open from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday. For more information or for submission forms, visit www.calderdale.gov.uk/museums
