Drop-in event to help Get Organised

Cllr Daniel Sutherland

Students in Year 11 and their families are invited to Calderdale Council’s Get Organised event, to find out more about the options they have after finishing GCSEs in 2019.

On Thursday 11 October, young people and their families are encouraged to drop in to the MBi Shay Stadium in Halifax between 3.30pm and 7.30pm for the chance to speak with colleges, sixth forms, universities and work-based training providers from across the region.

There’ll be lots of information and advice available, including talks from C&K Careers, university, college and apprenticeship providers which will be repeated throughout the evening. There will also be copies of the C&K Careers ‘Get Organised’ guide available, packed full of up to date information on local post-16 options.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing and Environment, Cllr Daniel Sutherland, said:

“This popular annual event is a great way for young people to find out more about their options after GCSEs.

“There are so many paths available to those leaving Year 11 and many will be unsure which to take. This event has lots of advice and information available under one roof, to help young people make an informed choice about their future.”

There’s no need to book a place at the event, but visitors are advised that it can be busy between 5pm and 6.30pm.
