Residents in Calderdale will continue to pay just £10 for a bulky waste collection until early 2014.
The current charge of £10 per collection was due to go up to £15 in October 2013, but instead, the increase will start on 1 February 2014. The bulky waste collection service is in place to help with the disposal of large bulky items, such as sofas, chairs, tables and washing machines.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Environment, Cllr Barry Collins, said:
“The price increase for bulky waste collections was due to start in October, but we recognise that people have extra rubbish over the Christmas period so we have decided to leave the charge increase until after the festive season. We hope that this will help residents in the run up to Christmas.
“Another factor is that the Eastwood Household Waste Recycling Centre is currently closed for refurbishment until the end of December, so it will be helpful to wait until the Centre has reopened before making changes to our current chargeable bulky collection service.”
If you have any bulky waste to dispose of, you can arrange a collection online at www.calderdale.gov.uk or by calling 0845 245 7000. Items must be outside for collection within up to eight days of making your request.
