Visitors to Halifax town centre can now take advantage of extra parking, after a number of spaces were opened up as an additional pay and display section.
A small section of the Mulcture Hall Road car park (opposite the entrance to the Wool Merchants Hotel) in Halifax is now available for pay and display parking, creating an additional 17 long stay spaces for public parking.
The tariff for the spaces will be 50 pence per hour, Monday to Friday from 8am until 6pm, with a maximum charge of £3 for over 6 hours stay. To stay all day on Saturday the cost is just £1 and the spaces are free all day on Sundays.
Contract permits can also be used at this site, which can be used Monday to Sunday and offer great value for money. You can apply for a permit by visiting www.calderdale.gov.uk and searching for ‘contract permits’.
The new spaces are close to the area currently leased by Lloyds Banking Group for their staff and it should be noted that Lloyds permits are not valid in this area.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, Cllr Barry Collins, said:
“These extra spaces will offer additional parking options for visitors to Halifax. They’re close to the town centre and offer a good value hourly rate, especially at weekends when visitors can park for £1 all day on Saturday and for free on Sunday.”
You can find out more about the new spaces and see a map of the area at Mulcture Hall parking
