Homeowners and landlords in Calderdale could be eligible for new FREE energy upgrades to their homes.
Residents in the area have already had free attic room insulation installed in their homes and now, thanks to further funding, locals could also benefit from one or more of the following, completely free of charge:
- Floor insulation
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
With energy bills rising, residents are urged to act now to make their homes warmer, reduce their outgoings and look after the environment.
The project, delivered by Calderdale Council in partnership with Better Homes Yorkshire and Eclipse Energy, has secured funding from the Government’s Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery scheme to offer home energy improvements across the area.
The funding is intended to help drastically cut the UK’s carbon emissions and reduce fuel poverty – making day-to-day living more affordable in the some of the country’s poorest areas.
Steve Batty, Head of Sustainability at Better Homes Yorkshire, said:
“The improvements on offer help to wrap up the home to stop heat escaping – meaning that less energy is needed to heat the home in the first place and rooms are kept warmer for longer.
“As a result, the upgrades help to reduce carbon emissions, leading to a cleaner, greener and less expensive way of living. Funds are available for a limited time only so it’s important that people act now to find out more.”
To qualify, households will need to have a total combined income of less than £30K or be in receipt of some form of government benefit (such as Pension Credit, Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit or Universal Credit).
Work is subject to surveys and proof of eligibility. To be eligible for insulation, attic rooms must have a window and be accessed by a permanent staircase. The scheme ends in March 2023 but funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
