Essential maintenance: Hebble Viaduct, Halifax

Calderdale Council is to carry out essential maintenance on the A58 Hebble Viaduct in Halifax.

Works will start on Tuesday 18 June 2013 to replace the steel parapets and carry out concrete repairs at the ends of Hebble Viaduct and the exit slip road that leads to Boothtown. The parapets and concrete are showing signs of deterioration and need upgrading to meet modern safety standards.

The works will be carried out in four phases, and are expected to be completed by the end of November 2013. The first phase involves works to the Boothtown exit slip road. To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, it is necessary to close the road whilst the works take place. The Boothtown exit slip road will be closed from Tuesday 18 June 2013 for six weeks. A short, signed diversion route is in place.

Further road and lane closures will be required throughout the works until the end of November 2013. More details will be provided during each phase of the works.

Calderdale Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience that these essential works might cause. When completed, the works should ensure that Hebble Viaduct remains free from further maintenance for a number of years to come.
