Latest event to highlight new opportunities for importing and exporting

Calderdale Council continues its series of ‘Let’s Talk Trade’ events with a session designed to help attendees discover fresh opportunities and new markets beyond the EU for importing and exporting.

Let’s Talk Trade is a series of free online events designed to empower local businesses to thrive in international trade following the end of the Brexit transition period.

Registration for next week’s session – Tuesday 22 June, 10.00am – is now open to Calderdale business owners and decision-makers eager to explore the potential of importing and exporting following the UK’s departure from the EU.

The Let’s Talk Trade initiative is being delivered in partnership with the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, as part of the Vision2024 for Calderdale.

Each session comprises a one-hour panel led by our region’s best and brightest business pioneers, with opportunities for attendees to raise questions and concerns in a collaborative environment.

The speakers for this session are:

  • Antonia Gott – MD, Antonia & Panesar LTD, Coffee Domination
  • Jason Oshiokpekhai – MD, Global Travel
  • Michelle Cooper – Department of International Trade, Yorkshire and the Humber

The series aims to help Calderdale businesses share knowledge, connect and develop import and export relationships with new suppliers and trade partners, not just within the EU, but across the globe.

Cllr Jane Scullion, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Strategy, said:

“Following a successful first session of Let’s Talk Trade last month, we’re keen to engage with local business owners and decision-makers to provide greater access to local markets and contribute towards creating a greater diversity of goods.

“We want to help Calderdale businesses connect and develop relationships with a range of international suppliers, and empower the region to unlock Calderdale’s bright future in importing and exporting. This is an important part of our Inclusive Economic Recovery Plan to help rebuild from the pandemic.”

Upcoming sessions:

  • Tuesday 22 June
  • Tuesday 20 July
  • Tuesday 17 August
  • Tuesday 28 September
  • Tuesday 26 October
