Tour de Yorkshire

Bernard Hinault - Cragg Vale 2014

In response to the announcement from Welcome to Yorkshire about hosts for starts and finishes in the Tour de Yorkshire 2017, Cllr Tim Swift, Calderdale Council’s Leader said:

“We are very excited about the possibility of hosting either a start or finish in the third annual Tour de Yorkshire in 2017. The return of this amazing race to Calderdale would be testament to the borough’s appeal for professional and amateur cyclists. Building on the massive success of this year’s Tour de Yorkshire and last year’s Tour de France in Calderdale, we are keen to play an even bigger part in 2017 to boost tourism, economic and community benefits further.

“Local people are already getting out on their bikes more, and the return of the Tour de Yorkshire would help to keep our cycling legacy alive. If you want to get in some practice before the race arrives, visit our website for all things cycling in Calderdale: www.cyclecalderdale.co.uk(external link) and follow us on Twitter @innercyclist.”
