Vibrant new community hub opened by Newground Together, in the centre of Halifax

Bull Green Hub opening

An exciting new space in the heart of Halifax town centre is now open to locals inside one of Together Housing Group’s office buildings.

The ‘Hub @ Bull Green’ has been officially opened by Newground Together, an independent charity that is part of the Together Housing Group. Newground Together have created a friendly space to provide support and deliver workshops & activities.

Local groups were welcomed to the grand opening on Friday, August 15, alongside Holly Lynch, MP Deputy Mayor for Calderdale, Councillor Sue Holdsworth, Calderdale Councillor Silvia Dacre.

Guests were given a tour of the facilities which are located on the ground floor of Together Housing Group’s Bull Green House offices. The former reception space has been transformed into a fresh and inviting support and advice hub.

Community members can use the hub to get advice from employment and energy experts on how to get back into work, gain new skills and get advice on how to reduce energy bills. The hub is made up of three one-to-one rooms to offer people direct, in person support.

There is also a community activity room where Newground Together teams will host a range of training workshops, advice sessions, craft groups, wellbeing sessions and much more.

Newground’s expert staff who have a proven track record in assisting hundreds of people in finding a job, identifying their perfect training course and providing energy advice, will be on hand throughout the week.

The hub will be open during the week on Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm and on Fridays, 9am to 4pm.

Emily Pearson, Community Programme Manager for Newground Together said:

“We’re incredibly passionate about offering face-to-face support to the community as much as possible and having this wonderful, dedicated hub will allow us to do exactly that. We are keen to work with other local community organisations and to host their own workshops in this multi-purpose space.

“So far this year, we’ve supported 50 people with getting back into work, achieve 103 new qualifications and have delivered countless energy advice sessions but we’re not stopping there. This hub will give us the opportunity to keep doing more with the community, for the community, and our partners. We’re excited to see what we can achieve together from this new space.”

Holly Lynch MP for Halifax said:

“It was great to attend the opening of the new community hub in Bull Green. Newground and Together Housing have created a fantastic space for people to get the support and advice they need as well as training opportunities for people searching for work. I want to thank Newground Together for creating this valuable community resource and wish them every success.”

Cllr Silvia Dacre, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Resources, said:

“It’s great to see this new community hub up and running and supporting the Council’s priorities of reduced inequalities, thriving towns and places, and climate action.

“We regularly work with Newground Together as valued members of Calderdale’s Anti-Poverty Partnership, and also our Employment and Skills Partnership. Hub @ Bull Green will build on the joint work to help people into jobs, cut the cost of heating and powering their homes, and tackling the climate emergency through energy efficiency advice.”
