Next steps for the Piece Hall

Piece Hall courtyard

The Piece Hall in Halifax is closing on Friday 17 January 2014, so that works can be carried out, starting later in 2014.

Although some shops have already closed or relocated, a number are still trading and open for business.  Please see relocation details for businesses on the Piece Hall website.

The Grade 1 Listed Piece Hall will be restored and revitalised, creating a 21st Century heritage visitor and business location, harnessing the beauty and impact of the building with the addition of a state-of-the-art interpretation and learning centre, a new east extension and a re-designed courtyard.

Calderdale Council’s Leader, Cllr Tim Swift, said:

“This is a real milestone in the history of Halifax. The transformed Piece Hall will be an iconic attraction, and a world class heritage destination. This is your last chance to visit the building before work begins.

“We’re heading into an exciting new chapter for the Piece Hall, and I’m really looking forward to seeing it reopen in spring 2016, with its state-of-the-art interpretation and learning centre, shops and businesses and beautiful courtyard.”
