Burdock Way to be closed for repairs

Drivers in Calderdale are being advised that a section of Burdock Way (A629) in Halifax will be closed for urgent repair works this weekend.

The Burdock Way flyover at the junction with King Cross Street will be closed from 8pm on Saturday 6 February until 8pm on Sunday 7 February 2016.

A recent routine inspection of the flyover identified the need for some repairs, which are essential for safety reasons.

The temporary closure will affect traffic on the approach to Halifax town centre. Outbound travel will be unaffected. The diversion will be on King Cross Street (the slip road towards Bull Green).

The Council has made emergency services and bus companies aware of the closure.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, Cllr Barry Collins, said:

“These essential repairs will increase the life of the flyover, so that drivers can continue to use the road safely for years to come. We are closing the road at the weekend to minimise disruption and we will do all that we can to complete the work as quickly as possible. We thank people in advance for their patience.”
