Spook-tacular International Market

International Market

The award-winning International Market will be returning to Halifax again this year from Wednesday 31 October to Sunday 4 November 2018 for a real ghoulish affair. Over 40 traders from around the globe will set up stall along Corn Market, Russell Street and Southgate.

The five day market will be a fully themed Halloween event, with decorated stalls and traders in Halloween costumes, you’ll definitely get into the ‘spirit’ of things! The special Halloween International Market will offer visitors the opportunity to shop around the world and to try and buy something different.

Just some of the tasty treats which will be drawing in visitors include Greek delicacies such as gyros, souvlaki, and Greek pies, a Traditional German Schwenkgrill selling bratwurst and currywurst, mouth-watering French crepes and galettes, Catalan cuisine – tapas and paella, pofitjes, the famous Dutch mini pancakes and even ostrich and kangaroo burgers – so hop along and try some of the great street foods on offer.

Wander amongst the wonderful aromas, sights and sounds of a true International Market. As well as international street food there will be some great fresh foods on sale including olives, baklava, dried fruit and nuts. If you’re after something sweet, the French patisserie is a must, offering the finest pastries that are perfect as a treat.

But it’s not all about food as there’s some great craft and gift stalls including fantastic jewellery made from recycled silver cutlery; South American jewellery and knitwear, handmade amber, crystal and gemstone jewellery and of course the famous Dutch Market Garden where you can wander through a huge collection of shrubs, bulbs, beautiful plants and trees with some great garden ornaments.

And if it all gets too much and you want to take a break sit and relax in our very own Continental Street Bar where you can try some great continental beers and wine. And with an extended opening time until 8pm on Wednesday why not come down to the market and pick up a trick or treat for yourself.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Strategy, Cllr Barry Collins, said:

“The International Market is always a popular event and this year visitors are in for a frightfully good time, as the stalls and traders will be getting into the Halloween spirit.

“There’ll definitely be more treats than tricks, as visitors can experience the delicious food and pick up some unique gifts in time for Christmas. At the same time, why not pay a visit to the town’s many shops and our Victorian Borough Market, which is bursting at the seams with history, energy, friendliness and a massive variety of products.”

Opening hours of the International Market are:

Wednesday: 9am to 8pm – Halloween night

Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 9am to 6pm

Sunday: 10am to 5pm
