What do you want to see in the new Halifax Leisure Centre?

People are being invited to have their say to help shape plans for a new leisure facility in Halifax town centre.

As part of Calderdale’s Next Chapter, plans for a new combined swimming pool and leisure facility on the site of the existing North Bridge Leisure Centre are moving forward.

To ensure this new facility meets the needs of local people, a consultation exercise is currently underway to find out what people want from the leisure centre. The consultation asks questions such as ‘what’s important to you when thinking about exercise?’ and ‘what would encourage you to use the centre?’, as well as space for your own suggestions.

All the feedback will be collated and used to shape further plans for the project. The results will be presented to Cabinet later this year.

To take part in the consultation, visit www.calderdalenextchapter.co.uk/vision/halifax-leisure-centre(external link) and follow the link to the survey, or visit your local leisure centre and pick up a paper survey. The consultation runs until Monday 13 August 2018.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Strategy, Cllr Barry Collins, said:

“This promises to be a superb new project, combining the current two sites into one state-of-the-art leisure centre, forming part of our wider exciting plans for Halifax town centre.

“We want Calderdale to be the most active borough in the North by 2021. To help achieve this ambitious target, it’s important that leisure facilities meet the needs of the people who will be using them.

“The feedback we receive from the current consultation will be used to shape our future plans for the new centre. So please make sure you have your say!”
